Measurement of the blood glucose concentration after an overnight fast almost always reveals hypoglycaemia, providing that it is performed on at least three occasions (Fig. 20.11). In suspected cases, glucose determinations of capillary blood (collected on filter paper during an attack and measured in a laboratory) are very informative.
